Bug Party!

Luke and Andrew had their second birthday party in Huntsville on July 10th! It was so much fun!

Here are the birthday boys hanging out, eating bananas, and watching "Cars" on the morning of party day.

For the second birthday, Kristen and I decided to go with a bug theme since both of the boys are obsessed with them!

We made bug cupcakes (ants, caterpillars, spiders, butterflies, and ladybugs):

We served up a giant caterpillar sub (sub sandwich courtesy of Subway... olives for eyes and Cheetoes for legs, courtesy of Hammonds and Barnsbys!)

Made an ant fruit bowl:

Creepy, crawly, bug chocolates (with mint!):

Bug shaped pb&j's:

And ants on a log. I didn't take a picture of the ants on a log - but you know what they look like - peanut butter on celery sticks with raisins on top!

All the food was delicious and worked perfectly with our theme! I was really pleased with how cute the whole thing turned out.

It was, of course, a very hot July day, so kids stripped down to their undies and splashed around in the pool, played on the playground, and just tried to stay cool while maximizing the fun!

Time was really flying by and we realized that we needed to gather the kids and do cupcakes!

After cupcakes - more playing and visiting ensued!!

When the kids were finally all played out and most of the guests had gone home, those of us that were left went inside and piled in the Barnsby's living room to open gifts! I think Luke only paid attention to the first two gifts... after he got "beeee cruck" (big truck) it was all he could focus on! Here are a few final photos from gift opening/playing.
