Halloween 2010

For some reason, even though this weekend was the official "Halloween weekend", I'm just kinda over it already. Maybe because we already endured Luke's Fall Festival at school, pumpkin patch/painting pumpkins at school, his class Halloween party, trick-or-treating at school, Tate Farms with the fam, trunk-r-treat at the Y, and a Halloween party at one of my co-workers homes. Don't get me wrong... I love Halloween... but enough is enough, right?

Even though I feel "Halloween-ed out", it was still another fun fall weekend! We carved pumpkins (finally!) this afternoon.

I tried to get Luke to touch the pumpkin goo in the middle of the pumpkin, but he decided that it would be good enough to just barely touch the goo that was still attached to the top of the pumpkin.

"EWWWWW!! YUCKY!!!"

I carved the first pumpkin, and Luke could not have been less interested in what I was doing. Once my pumpkin was complete and I handed the electric carver over to Andie, Luke immediately wanted to "sit in da wap" (sit in the lap) of dad and closely oversee his every move.

Here's the little stinker before we carved the third pumpkin.

Ok, now fast forward a few hours to "twick o tweet" time! Luke put on his costume (Russell from the movie "UP") for the third time... and for the third time we got tears and a series of "don't wike it! don't wike it! don't wike it!" as he tried to rip the handmade sash with all of the iron-on badges off of his body. Since this was the third time, I was a pro at getting a glo stick in his hand and escorting him outside asap to get his mind off of the sash (which you'd think was made of fire and nails).

Luke had a REALLY fun time "twick o tweeting" this year! Although he was super shy at people's doorsteps, he was very eager to go to the "neck house!" (next house). Once we hit all the houses on our little street, we headed back to our house to help dad and Mr. Mike (our neighbor) hand out candy. And by "help", I mean that Luke ate a sucker... then some M&Ms... then another sucker... then some gummi Starburst... etc. Big help!

This was the scene at our house:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

ps - since this is a post about Halloween, I should probably include a photo of our costumes as an ensemble! Luke's "Russell" costume on it's own isn't nearly as impressive as seeing Russell, Mr. Fredrickson, and the flying house from "UP" all together!!

How do you sum up the pumpkin patch in three photos?

1 - pumpkins

2 - corn crib

3 - slide

'nuff said!

Halloween Wrap-Up

Whew, it was an eventful weekend! Here's a quick run-down of all the Halloween festivities.

(check out those rabbit teeth!):

(something has his full attention):

Well, we kicked off the fun on Thursday evening at the YMCA Fall Family Fun Fest. Luke got to wear his Batman costume and we had a good time looking at all the other kid's costumes, venturing down the haunted hallway, and we even got to see a horse! With all the excitement going on, Luke was probably most thrilled watching the billiard balls roll around on the pool tables in the teen center.

Friday morning I went up to daycare to help with trick-or-treating at school. The classrooms take turns going door to door collecting candy. I didn't really get any pics of Luke in action (because I was holding him), but here's a pic of Luke chowing down on some candycorn after his class made the rounds.

Luke with his friend Lauren:

That afternoon, the kids had their Halloween party, so I went back to daycare for more fun! It was a wild party in the Sunfish room - cupcakes, cookies, Cheetos, and a dance party! So fun!!

On Saturday, Andie and I carved pumpkins during Luke's naptime.

When it began to get dark outside, we anxiously awaited the trick-or-treaters. Since Luke isn't quite walking yet, we didn't take him around from house to house (instead, he was in bed by 7:15).

It was a great Halloween!
